Industry:
Main Industry: Agriculture. Hainan is a major source of oil and tropical crops but corruption has discouraged most investors. Some ethnic tensions have begun between the Han Chinese and the island's minorities, such as the Li and Miao. The island grows and exports more than 20 kinds of fruit and vegetables, as well as cinnamon, coconuts, rice, sugar and tobacco. The island's forests have been reduced from 50% of the land to less than 8%. Hainan is rich in minerals, especially bauxite, copper, iron ore, and tin.
